Housed in a restored 1879 building, this Galveston boutique is literally an "old favorite"; rooms with beadboard walls have "character", there's a rooftop terrace and guests can hit the harbor for fishing and sailing, then sup on seafood at the on-site Merchant Prince; but cutting-edgers find it "historic" to the point of being a little "tired"; N.B. there are pool privileges at the affiliated Hotel Galvez.

Room was beautiful, fantastic design, 15' high-ceilings, loved the bathroom tile and hot towels.

The cold water faucet of wash basin dripped.

The hotel is historic and was renovated several years ago. The bottom floor was re-furbished due to Hurricane Ike storm damage and is back to normal. The lobby and rooms are beautifully designed using a black and white theme. The room was large, comfortable and had 15' high ceilings. It made you feel like a king! The room was very quiet, I never heard a neighbor, the elevator was fast and there was a convenient restaurant downstairs with a good overall selection of food and computers at the table.
